Although he grew up in Los Angeles, the Georgia-born Curb was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2003. He was inducted into the National Business Hall of Fame in 2001 and received his own Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (in front of 1750 N. Vine St.) in 2007.
A NASCAR racing-team owner from 1984 to 1988. He was the owner of the car in which Richard Petty had his last two NASCAR victories. Two of Curb's other drivers were Dale Jarrett and Tom Sneva.
While serving as the Republican Lt. Governor of California (1979-1983), he gained notoriety after rushing to the capital to appoint several judges while then Gov. Jerry Brown (a Democrat) was out of California air space. The appointments were voided upon Brown's return.
